Our ingredients

To make our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, so that it can be processed better in our chunks. With the right amount of vegetables, fruit and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for the dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog we use meat from freely raised and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color and is full of vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is packed with health benefits.

Poultry

Portuguese water dog specific vegetables, herbs and fruit

We have carefully examined the breed characteristics of the Portuguese Water Dog. We have also conducted research into the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Portuguese Water Dog belongs. From these studies, in consultation with a leading Dutch nutritionist, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Portuguese water dog.

Yucca

This plant grows in the deserts of Southwest America and Northern Mexico. The roots of the yucca have been used for centuries by the Indians in these areas as a medicine for rheumatism and arthritis. It slows down pain and inflammation in the joints.

Yucca can be added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to the prevention of breed-specific complaints related to rheumatism, arthritis, arthrosis, the intestines and the heart. Yucca can also make the stool smell less strong and removes foul-smelling gases.

Parsley

Parsley is a biennial, winter-hardy, herbaceous plant from the lacecap family. Parsley has been used as a medicinal herb for hundreds of years. There are dozens of diseases that parsley fights. According to various sources, it cures, among other things, diarrhea, anemia and ear infection. It is packed with more iron than, for example, spinach. Parsley also contains other minerals such as silicon, as well as vitamins B and C and carotene.

At Yourdog we add parsley to dog food because it could make a positive contribution to the prevention of breed-specific complaints in relation to the blood, heart and kidneys.

Parsley is a natural source of vitamins C, A and K. This can contribute to the immune system and the eyes and the cardiovascular system and the liver. Parsley also has anti-inflammatory properties and can have a diuretic effect, keeping the dog's bladder free of pollution.

Carrot

The carrot as we know it today, or the orange carrot, is the result of many years of crossbreeding. The first white carrots originally came from Iran and were brought to the Netherlands by the VOC in the 17th century.

Carrots are an important source of vitamins and fiber. For example, carrots contain retinol (vitamin A1) and beta-carotene, which is converted in the body into vitamin A. This is important for the development of capillaries and the health of all cells. The fibers in a carrot contribute to the dog's digestion. Puppy, adult or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Portuguese Water Dog dog food varieties, you can use the following guidelines. If your Portuguese Water Dog is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Portuguese water dog over 7 years old, we recommend the Yourdog Portuguese water dog senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years old, you can choose the Adult variant.

Nutritional advice

Switching advice

If you switch to Yourdog from another food brand, we recommend following the following steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then you feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this again for two or three days. Then you mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog has now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. You can then feed 100% Yourdog Portuguese Water Dog dog food at your own discretion.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture and light, which can affect the shelf life and taste. It is therefore important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage box or barrel in a dry, cool and dark place. It is best not to put the food loose in the barrel, but to place it in the barrel with the entire bag, which you close as best as possible.
